Kranjska Gora - Local and Tourist Information

Kranjska Gora in the Julian Alps is one of Slovenia's principal ski areas but is also a great destination for a summer activities holiday. The ski resort has 18 runs in four different ski areas offering a total of 30 kilometres of runs. Additional winter sports activities that are available in Kranjska Gora are ski touring, sledding, snow shoeing, skating and ice climbing.

In the summer months follow trails to the many waterfalls such as the Martuljek falls where the upper fall cascades in three stages down 110 metres. waterfalls are best visited in Spring when the snow melt ensures the highest volume of water passing through the falls. The Lucifer fall is an exception. This is the favourite for ice climbers seeking a challenging climb up the frozen waterfall.

Other activities in the region include bike trails, hiking, paragliding, zip line, fly fishing and climbing. For climbers there are several via ferratas (routes with fixed ropes and ladders) for less experienced climbers and challenging climbs for serious mountaineers such as the north face of Mount Triglav. There are two artificial walls for sport climbers. tennis courts and a six hole golf course complete the range of activities on offer.

One of the more unusual sights is the Ajdorska deklica or Pagan Girl, a naturally sculptured face of a girl in a rock face. For one of the more unusual activities try flying like a sky diver in the wind tunnel at Planica.   .
